The perfect-instruction trap
The classic mistake: spending weeks polishing the instruction given to the AI, then putting into service an assistant that cannot do anything concrete.
An assistant with no tools and no follow-up is a demo.
What holds over time
You → Assistant (model) → Coordination → Tools
↑
Memory and contextThe assistant proposes. The coordination layer executes within the agreed scope. The tools act. A person approves what is sensitive before it goes out.
What I learned by running them
- The model is not enough: it needs tools and connections to your software.
- Memory matters: context, history, preferences.
- Follow-up is not optional: a log, the costs, the delays.
If your assistant cannot do anything concrete, it is not an assistant. It is a chatbot.
